The Sassafras tree is a genus of three extant and one extinct species of deciduous trees in the family Lauraceae, native to eastern North America and eastern Asia. The young leaves and twigs are quite mucilaginous and produce a citrus-like scent when crushed. The Sassafras tree is also a well known specimen used for medicinal uses such as extracting the oil from the tree or even using the leafs to make tea. You can even harvest its hard and durable wood to build furniture out of or use for other wood projects. The Sassafras tree can adapt to many different regions of the USA when it comes to soil-profiles while under ideal conditions it will grow anywhere between 40-60 feet high and approximately 30 feet wide.
